Healthy Snacks For The Big Game!

I subscribe to a lot of other recipe blogs and this past week or so there have been many posts showing appetizers and other foods that would be great to eat while watching the Superbowl on TV this weekend.

I don’t eat a lot of breaded type foods and I use cheese as just an accent in my recipes.  I decided that I would write a quick post highlighting some of my recipes that would be nice alternatives to serve instead of just concentrating on the heavily cheese and carbo appetizers that everybody seems to make.

I understand that many of the recipes that people make have been family traditions for many years, and I am not suggesting that you lose this tasty part of your heritage- maybe you would like to fill in with a few of the healthier ones too though!

I have made several dips that are totally healthy, like the Shrimp Salsa at the top of the post.  Here are a few more suggestions:

Artichoke Heart And Olive Dip

Dried Wild Mushroom And Sun Dried Tomato Topping/Dip

Curried Corn Salad Or Dip

Mushrooms Stuffed With Prosciutto And Artichoke Hearts

Italian Sausage And Spinach Meatballs

Gluten Free Pizza With Italian Sausage

Pork Pozole Soup

Clam Chowder

Pork And Pumpkin Soup

Cornbread

And for dessert- cookies!  I won’t try to tell you that these are especially healthy, but they do taste great!  All of these recipes are gluten free, but can be made with “regular” flour if you don’t have an issue with gluten.

Cappuccino Thins

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Mocha Chocolate Chip Cookies

Pecan Pie Cookies

Chocolate Sambuca Cookies

Maple Pecan Cookies (like a Pecan Sandie)

Chocolate Almond Crackles

Snickerdoodles

I hope I have inspired you with my suggestions!  Now don’t go too crazy with all of this and please enjoy the game!
